Our volunteers, alongside CRT and local residents, tackled 'big stuff' in Alperton today, with the help of a work boat from CRT. Thanks to St Georges for the Shed! Photos show our progress; all rubbish cleared. Tough but rewarding work! #CommunityCleanup #TeamEffort

Just a heads up if you are clearing the canal. Canal & River Trust are only responsible for rubbish on the towpath side (exceptions may apply). You are responsible for removing all rubbish you collect, unless agreed in advance.

A clear up near Willowtree Marina was well attended. Better news, very little rubbish found. Folk ARE taking notice of our plea to take rubbish home and we are seeing improvements all along the parts of canal we clean.

Working with Brent Council and Canal & River Trust we have got CCTV installed at a hotspot in Alperton. Based on results from Old Oak, this will deter dumpers on the road and camps under the bridge. Watch this space - literally!

Great trip from Willowtree to Perivale! Towpaths are spotless thanks to our awesome volunteers. Birds' nests are more twig-based—less rubbish floating around! Spring churn is minimal this year too. Big thanks to everyone helping keep our canals clean!#CleanCanals #CommunityEffort

15 of us cleaned Alperton towpath, a sea of blue tops and our logo. 💙 We didn’t fill the CRT boat, showing how well our regular FOGUC volunteers do. The boat's + many hands = more ground cleared, large items too. Made a huge difference! #Volunteer #CommunityCleanup #Alperton

Essential places to step off a boat must be kept cut - locks & landings. As for moorings, with rings (?) again keep cut. Elsewhere, natural bulk boat moorings probably keep themselves 'cut'. We are not a fan of wholesale cutting without reason.

We are pleased to say that year on year, we are collecting far less rubbish from the canal area. We have raised awareness and love for the canal from all canal users. Love for the canal is our aim, and it's wonderful to be part of it. Thank you all!

Another win for the amazing volunteers keeping the canal clean! 🌿 These reeds at Greenford used to be litter hotspots, but after a spring cleanup, so much less trash. Saw just a couple of bottles and crisp packets—overall, it’s spotless! 👏 #CanalCleanup #Greenford

Today one of our volunteers lent us their boat (again) to clear up the towpath around Greenford. We have an agreement with Ealing Council to use their bags, which they will collect from us at specific points. All this reduces the cost to CRT of rubbish clearance.
