It's hard to distinguish between "China dumping Treasuries to hurt the US" from "China selling Treasuries to slow RMB depreciation". Many will assume the former but we should assume the latter unless there's clear evidence to the contrary.

I learned about the LA police show "Bosch" a couple years ago from a mention on Andrew Batson's blog. Why does no one ever talk about how great this show is? For police shows all time, only The Wire and The Shield are its equals.

If US sanctions forbid even public health training, maybe the problem is US sanctions and not Harvard. How does withholding public health education help oppressed Uyghurs? (One could ask similar questions about many US sanctions.)

It's truly an indictment of the US foreign policy establishment that this kind of argument, which frames foreign policy debates in terms of people's alleged "weakness" or "toughness", is so widespread. Regardless of what you think about that deal, claiming that someone is "weak"

Even by Left-NIMBY standards this Jake Blumgart story shocks the conscience: 100% affordable housing, built by the Public Housing Authority, delayed 6 years. Costs spiking despite cutting the project to just 57 homes And now the "Equity Groups" liken these 57 homes to Tuskegee

Analysis of yesterday's Court of International Trade (CIT) decision enjoining Trump's IEEPA tariffs, and thoughts about what might come next: 1. The CIT found that all of Trump's IEEPA tariffs--the Canada, Mexico, and China tariffs, and the "Liberation Day" tariffs--are
