Well, I’m revising fractals & chaotic systems. Here goes a foretaste: the Baker’s (it stretches and folds the unit square as if it was dough) chaotic map. After iterating it many times, a fractal set arises: the Cantor set as the a strange attractor (see the Lyapunov exponents).

Rainy Saturday at I. Matemáticas UNAM Last number theory lecture before the Olympiads. Do you recognize these three theorems? If so, how many proofs -of them- do you know and which is your favorite?

The books that helped me with diffusion: OU’s: the most beautiful and clear derivation. Units 9 and 11. Crank’s: everything you want to know. Itô’s: most elegant. Chapters 1-3 Ghez’: if you are a chemist, you’d like this.

Next week, I’ll be attending a workshop related to topology (actually, by and for topologists). I’m not a topologist and my topology knowledge is incipient. I’ll be reading parts of these books for the rest of the week. Recommendations (quite short/concise) are welcome.

Just finished my first Krasznahorkai’s work (in Spanish), which is a prelude to ‘War and War’: ‘Isaiah Has Come’. It’s so elegant, so beautifully bleak. Here’s an unofficial English version: futuristika.org/laszlo-kraszna… I’m now about to start Sátántangó.

Inspired by Fosse's Aliss at the Fire, I wrote about harmonic motion, both the simple (conservative) and the damped (dissipative) harmonic oscillators, and about constants of the motion. anacabreu.medium.com/a-glimpse-into…
