My welcome to Kegworth this morning. Ratcliffe-on-Soar chugging away as the last GB coal power station still in operation. Upon closure, gas will pick up the strain when demand is high, renewables low & interconnection light. That may push gas to 75% at any one time…we’ll see.

How is it that tonight I hear my dad regale to me for the 1st time that his practice laps in an F750 Clubmans Oulton Park in May 1983 involved Martin Brundle OBE & Ayrton Senna split around him on the straight neck&neck in Formula 3! 🤯 & he found a Tesco bag of tools in his footwell!

I’m in the rugby league heartlands of Wigan, Widnes & Warrington today & spotted what’s left of Fiddlers Ferry up close. I peered across at these giants from my bedroom window in Atherton throughout my childhood. It’s a shame that cooling towers are being lost from our landscape.

When might we see split electricity tariffs - 1 for sub-metered controllable demand, & 1 for demand that can't be shifted?
