Remembering Garda Info Sgt Andy Callanan, killed on duty on this day 1999. A man entered Tallaght Garda Station & poured petrol over himself. Sgt Callanan attempted to disarm the man who then aimed the petrol at the Sgt, setting it alight.Sgt Callanan died from injuries received.

Absolutely shameful. Think of the innocent victims, survivors and their families. No terrorist should be remembered in such a public and vitriolic way . Most of us whose loved ones were murdered, remember them quietly , either at mass or church service, visiting their grave .
