Meet GenerationResearch 👋 If you’ve not heard of us before, let us introduce ourselves! GenerationResearch (or GenRes for short) is an initiative based in Yorkshire dedicated to identifying future talent and overcoming barriers to progression in STEM careers.

Each year the GenRes team raises money to fund as many students as we can into paid research or technical experience in STEM. In 2024 we are proud to have supported 41 students attending University across Yorkshire/The Humber. Welcome to the family and good luck in your careers!

One of the things we treasure most at GenRes is hearing what our students' placement experience has meant to them and for their future career. We'd like to share some of this with you. First up we have Aloka, who completed a studentship in the Plant Nematology Lab in Leeds.

Our next GenRes student story is from Temi, a Biomedical Sciences student from the University of Bradford. Temi completed a placement with the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, gaining valuable practical experience in a biomedical services facility role.

Dr Frances Pearson, on behalf of our friends at VISFO, shares her funder perspective 🤝 VISFO has funded many activities for GenRes and was one of our first partners, interested in analysing big datasets for the pharmaceutical industry and widening participation in STEMM
