1/ 🧵 THREAD: Here’s how we solved a 30-year mystery about an HIV drug. šŸ’Š A drug used for over two decades āš ļø Pulled from the market for cardiac risk 🤯 And no one knew why — until now We found the missing mechanism using our single-cell mosaic dataset, Tahoe-100M. Let’s talk

So excited to share this preprint, the first with the experiments also done in our team at Institut Curie! From generating tRNA expression atlas to discovery of a tRNA-specific transcription factor, via translational control and breast cancer metastasis. Check it out!

ā€œI think you’d be shocked how often people are willing to chat and help you out.ā€ Breaking into AI for Science can feel intimidating. That’s why I found Alishba Imran 's story so inspiring: an undergrad at UC Berkeley, she carved her own path through study groups, shadowing

Shoot for the moon. Build openly. That's the spirit of Tahoe Therapeutics (Formerly Vevo) #tahoedeepdive. 40 people from across the world, self-organized into teams to play with Tahoe-100M and build open models of how biology interacts with chemistry.

Genomes encode biological complexity, which is determined by combinations of DNA mutations across millions of bases In new Arc Institute work, we report the discovery and engineering of the first programmable DNA recombinases capable of megabase-scale human genome rearrangement

Read the full preprint below šŸ‘‡ If you're interested in the interface of bioengineering, DNA and virtual cell foundation models, and agentic reasoning, shoot me a note. We're hiring postdocs and ML researchers and starting some crazy new projects biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Very grateful to be a part of this amazing team! It was truly thrilling to see bridge RNAs go from discovery in prokaryotes to application in human cells in such a short period of time! Can't wait to see more people use this remarkably elegant DNA rearrangement system.

"Does it work in human cells?" is a question I've gotten a lot this past year. Excited to share our latest work on bridge recombinases! It's been a lot of fun to lead this team effort. If you are excited to hear more, join for my thesis defense tomorrow at 3pm PT. Links below:

Really excited to see this published! From observations we made in our lab… to a blood test that works in real life scenarios… all thanks to the many scientists, ML researchers and engineers at exai bio who have worked on bringing this to the clinic. Kudos Babak and the team!
