Hydraulic modelling using HEC-RAS and EPA-SWMM models to evaluate Nature-Based Solutions efficiency against flood risk in Malta and Sicily

Recently the GiFLUID project was featured at the Expo Ecomed – Progetto Comfort which was held in Catania, Sicily. This provided an excellent opportunity to present GiFLUID’s efforts for mainstreaming green solutions in urban planning .

The #GiFluid project is being featured at the Water Innovation & Circularity Conference. Participants will learn about the green technologies being investigated in Malta & Sicily to address flood risks in urban & sub-urban areas & improving the quality of rainwater discharges.

The GiFLUID project is currently being showcased at the FLOWPATH 2023 conference. This opportunity allows us to present the efforts of GiFLUID within a conference that convenes experts in groundwater management, policy framework, and hydrogeological studies, among other fields.

The Ghajn Centre will undergo a temporary closure to facilitate the construction of a Green Roof as part of the GiFluid project. This will develop an experimental Green Roof Integrated with PV panels to test the characteristics of such green infrastructures

Progress continues at Ghajn Centre as the Green Roof in Malta enters the second phase of Water proofing. This initiative is supported by the Interreg V-A Italia Malta Programme.

Over 50 graduates & professionals from Malta & Sicily joined our 2 day Green Lab Training. Green Lab delved into the myriad benefits of Green Infrastructure, with a special focus on the significant role that green roofs can play in addressing today's environmental challenges.

The Green Roof at Ghajn Centre in Malta is complete and has been inaugurated by the Minister Miriam Dalli. Developed as part of the GiFluid Project, the green roof is made of permeable material and over 3,000 plants to mitigate the effects of flooding in Malta.
