Important to keep context. This is the only disease we get daily updates on. We forget in UK 1000 people daily diagnosed w cancer or 1500 dying. This is not causing death or significant problems on the NHS- so IMO we need to get used to it as vaccines make it a mild disease.

Clear that positive tests are rising at the moment. Sadly, many people are falling into the usual trap and suggesting that, if this continues, a delay to easing restrictions is the safest option.

"Hypocrisy I say, hypocrisy." Neil Oliver accuses political and social elites of behaving hypocritically over Covid restrictions.

Guys! Another cool binary divide coming your way. On one side everyone is selfish. On the other people are caring / sexy / well skilful! #Masks

Julia Hartley-Brewer I think they've got it backwards. What they're proposing is that whenever temporary traffic lights, speed limits or road closures are put in place, they should never again be removed irrespective of whether the work is finished. Bit like the A63 into Hull for past few months!

People should critically discuss govt's policies, obviously. But there are some basic things that aren't open to question 1) Mass vaccination is not "letting it rip." At no point since Mar 2020 has govt proposed letting it rip. Even in Mar 2020 that was a facetious description

NEW: there’s been a lot of chatter about why cases, hospitalisations and deaths are much higher in the UK than elsewhere in Western Europe. I think a lot of the commentary has been overly simplistic, politicised and at-times flat-out wrong. Let’s see if we can do better:

We need to talk about masks in health and social care, is it time to take them off? The negative impact they have on our ability to make a meaningful connection with patients is significant. Try telling someone they have cancer through a mask. Is it time to let patients decide?

I'm a doctor. Current NHS pension taxation rules are unfairly hitting senior doctors hard with many forced to retire early/reduce hours. This crisis cant go on. Tim Farron as my MP, please will you attend The BMA pensions event on Weds 6 July

Question I'd like all potential Conservative leaders to answer (RT if agree) The energy price cap's predicted to rise 64% in Oct taking a typical bill to £3,244/yr; & rise again in Jan to £500/yr more than when May's help package was announced. What'll u do to avoid this & when?

3/ The chancellor CANNOT fix the economy without fixing the NHS. With now over 7m on the waiting lists, it's having very important effect on economic inactivity👇😢 Can't fix NHS backlogs without fixing punitive pension taxes #FixTheFinanceAct #FixNegativePIAs #TaxUnregistered

I criticised Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting for their comments on GPs and their financing this weekend as I consider them irresponsible. That needs explanation in more detail, taking into account what needs to be done in this area. So, another thread on GPs, the NHS and Labour...
