Introducing the first speaker of #GiG24: Hollie Fisher! Hollie is an engineering geologist who has been at AtkinsRéalis for almost 10 years, focusing on water and energy projects. Tune in on 9 July for her talk University of Plymouth!


Our second speaker of #GiG24 is Lara Mani, a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER). She specialises her research in volcanic risk and the systemic hazards they pose to humanity. Look out for her talk on 9 July University of Plymouth!


Our final guest speaker of #GiG24 is Dr. Lucia Perez Diaz, a Senior Geodynamics Specialist at Neftex, Halliburton! She is currently working as a computational geodynamicist in Oxford. To see her talk titled 'Code, Create, Communicate' be there on 9 July University of Plymouth!


Following the talks from our guest speakers, we will have a Q&A panel session. This is a great place where everyone is welcome to ask anything they are curious about or want to know more about! Directly after the talks, it will be chaired by Sarah Boulton of University of Plymouth!


Can we predict when the next large earthquake will happen in California? Introducing Dr Zoe Mildon and Dr Constanza Rodriguez Piceda who will use California earthquake records and simple maths to predict the next large quake! On the 9 July University of Plymouth! #GiG24



Did you know we have only mapped 20% of the global ocean? Dr Jenny Gales is here to teach us about how bathymetry is collected and how to understand seafloor maps, improving our knowledge of the oceans. Submarine volcanoes, landslides and canyons will be revealed University of Plymouth! #GiG24


Dr Jodie Fisher will be looking at microfossils and climate in our next workshop! Microscopic shells can be used to reconstruct past environments and changes in global climate, so come and get hands on experience looking at deep-sea sediments through microscopes University of Plymouth! #GiG24


The final workshop of #GiG24 will see you travelling to Hokkaido, Japan after the earthquake of September 2018! You will be using historic satellite imagery to evaluate the impacts on the landscapes and communities. With Professor Anne Mather University of Plymouth on 9 July - don't miss it!
