Lovely morning doing a Riverfly Partnership survey of my local stream for Bristol Avon Rivers and chatting about collaboration opportunities with Chess Ridgard from NOWCA. I think I'll do more meetings over a tray of insects - hopefully inspire more #citizenscience

If I’m a bit quiet at the moment it’s because I’m spending every spare minute helping to organise this event at Hay Castle next weekend. Curating the stories of these citizen scientists is lifting my spirits. Whilst politicians are failing the Wye, hope lies in the people!

In this experiment Dr Rob Thompson of Reading Meteorology shows just how long it takes water to soak into parched ground, illustrating why heavy rainfall after a #drought can be dangerous and might lead to flashfloods. Dr Rob Thompson Water @ Reading

⚠️😡Make no mistake, we are angry. This Government has today launched an attack on nature. We don’t use the words that follow lightly. We are entering uncharted territory. Please read this thread. 1/13

Fast forward to today. Our population has swollen to 7.8BN. As we thrived, almost all other forms of wildlife went into decline. Our pets weigh almost as much as all wild animals. The weight of animals bred for food is now more than 10X the weight of all wild animals. 3/
