The corner parcel on A1A and SE 5th Street has sat vacant for several years now, but today was the groundbreaking for the Dunes Fort Lauderdale Hotel which will fill in the gap quite nicely and complete that important beach corridor.

This project has been thoughtfully designed, scaled, and integrated to reflect the rhythm of our city, and it aligns with our broader vision for smart, meaningful development along the coast.

Here we have architecture, civic responsibility, and economic investment all coming together to drive our local economy. I look forward to the ribbon cutting in two years!

The City of Fort Lauderdale Commission and friends celebrated Shelly Bradshaw for her incredible 30 years of service in the arts at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Her retirement will leave a void that will be difficult to fill.

I had the pleasure of meeting Shelly and working with her all the way back in the 90s when I was with the Broward Cultural Division. I wish this lovely lady all the best in her next chapter and say, “Thank you!” for giving so much to our community!

It was a pleasure to be at the Beach Community Center with three great beach neighborhoods tonight: Dolphin Isles HOA, Birch Park Beach HOA, and Lauderdale Beach HOA. The focus was on beach issues and the proposed “Amalfi” at A1A and NE 23rd Street. Great discussion!

Last evening, the City of Fort Lauderdale Commission did the right thing. As we are a beautiful mosaic of a municipality, we respect and celebrate all our citizens.

When the State comes after our LGBTQ+ residents and our artists, we say no. We will not be bullied and threatened and we will not allow the State to take over our roads and our souls. The Rainbow in the Sky during our meeting says it all!
