Today we learned about the Lunar New Year, made paper dragons and composed our own dragon dance. KC were excited to learn about other celebrations and started to make connections to celebrations they were familiar with. 🧧 🎊🏮

Developing KC’s ability to subitise numbers in dot patterns and representing them in drawings. Some students have learned to count to check their totals.

KC learned to recognise the grapheme m through Hickory Dickory Dock nursery rhyme. We used elements of drama to make meaning.

Today KC looked at the different groups that we can combine together to 10. We discovered there are many ways to get to 10. Wow! 😮

Today we welcomed 2022 Kindergarten to Greenacre PS to explore the classrooms, played games and make new friends. They all had such a great time. We cannot wait to see them all very soon! 📚✏️

KC have been learning about features of places. We looked at the features of our classroom and created a ‘birds eye view’ of what our classroom looks like. They were able to develop their creativity and vocabulary and work together as a team. It was fantastic! Greenacre PS

Kinder team analysed student writing samples by sharing students’ strengths and weakness. The discussions helped to better understand the skills the students are developing and guide our ‘where to next’ for Term 3. Greenacre PS Catherine Macreadie

I love being able to integrate maths strands to allow students to see the bigger picture and make connections. KC were able to identify 2D shapes on 3D objects and sort using a simple data display.

Today we welcomed the newest members of our school community into our wonderful world of learning. Kindergarten students enrolled to start school in 2023 participated in a range of school readiness activities. We cannot wait to see them again next week!

Stage 2 collaboratively plan our Term 4 English program through applying our knowledge from Joanne Rossbridge. We brainstormed a range of engaging activities & ordered it from spoken to written like. This will aid in building students skills to achieve the independent activity. 📝
