Very much enjoyed chatting with Miranda Melcher of the New Books Network (@newbooksnetwork.bsky.social) about my recently published book on misinformation in war and conflict, "Seeing is Disbelieving: Why People Believe Misinformation in War, and When They Know Better." Can listen here: newbooksnetwork.com/seeing-is-disb…

Today on New Books Network (@newbooksnetwork.bsky.social) - CMIST's Dan Silverman (@dmsilverman.bsk*.social) discusses his recently published book on misinformation in war and conflict with Miranda Melcher. Tune in: newbooksnetwork.com/seeing-is-disb…

Nice to see my study on attitudes in wartime Ukraine with Austin Knuppe & Anna Pechenkina out in International Studies Quarterly! We argue that two different deep "mindsets" -- an injustice mindset and a survival one -- compete to shape civilian views of peace in wartime. doi.org/10.1093/isq/sq…

NEW: Miami Herald reveals that one of the people imprisoned in El Salvador HAD LEGAL REFUGEE STATUS. He entered the country legally in January and was detained because of his tattoos, EVEN THOUGH he had passed a full background check. Without warning, he was sent to El Salvador.

Last week, we celebrated the launch of CMIST's Prof. Daniel Silverman's first book "Seeing is Disbelieving", which unpacks the spread of misinformation in conflict zones and the psychological dynamics that shape beliefs in wartime. Thanks Dan Silverman (@dmsilverman.bsk*.social) for your engaging lecture!

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.
