Fascinating talk by Ray Noyes of Grangetown History tonight on The Surprising History of Grangetown. Did you know most Grangetown streets are named after: - Investors e.g. Clive St (Clive of India) - Plymouth estates e.g. Avondale Road - St Fagan’s estate farms e.g. Stockland St?

Street party in Oakley St, Grangetown, #Cardiff in May 1945. 25,000 at the civic centre marked the end of #WW2 in Europe with prayers of thanksgiving, hymns, a public broadcast of Churchill's speech, a minute's silence for 1,300 local dead. Then hours of celebration! #VEDay80

Interesting article on buy-to-let and landlords in Grangetown. Would be good to get an explanation for some of the long-empty commercial premises in the area and a take on what will happen with the new, nearby Rightacres developments.
