It should never be the responsibility of any child to feed their peers. Unfortunately, that has been the reality for thousands for young people in Newham and across the country. Labour’s recent free-school meals announcement protects a child’s dignity and their life chances.

I was proud to speak in favour of this motion. Thank you Thelma Rose for highlighting the need for free school meals to improve life chances and social mobility.
