Tip to media: Take the damn paywall down on all stories about The Insurrection and COVID-19. Yes, journalism matters. Yes, someone has to pay for it. But consider the access issues when educating the public about the possible END OF DEMOCRACY and a GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

1/📌What if we had the ability to stop #SARSCoV2—and all its variants—from infecting us? We do. It's called an N95 mask. When worn properly it catches over 95% of airborne particles—mechanicaly & electrostatically. It's excellent against #Omicron. A thread on how it works🧵

The media must fight for democracy: ⁦Margaret Sullivan Put “pro-democracy coverage in front of your paywall, just as you’ve done with much of your covid coverage. Put teams of reporters and editors on the subject. Label it in a defining and memorable way” ⁦ washingtonpost.com/media/2022/01/…

From WashPost's Margaret Sullivan to news leaders: "Put that pro-democracy coverage in front of your paywall, just as you’ve done w/much of your covid coverage. Put teams of reporters & editors on the subject. Label it in a defining & memorable way..." washingtonpost.com/media/2022/01/…

If you haven’t tried an n95, kn95 or kn94 mask, you may be surprised to learn they’re less uncomfortable than many or most cloth masks even as they are much, much safer for all. My kids strongly prefer them.

There is no consensus for the general public on the number of times you can rewear an N95, KN95 or KF94 mask, but it’s not just guesswork. You should base your decision on a number of variables, experts say. trib.al/VvivYUD

One can make the deduction that CDC arguing against the public wearing n95 & against providing the public with n95 during an airborne pandemic is just as dangerous as arguing against vaccines.

Should Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert be BANNED from the House Floor for REFUSING to wear a mask? YES YES YES 👇 👇 👇

A) "Everyone will be exposed to Omicron" B) "Everyone will get Omicron" They're different. (A) promotes appropriate caution till surge ends: boost, N95, outdoor>indoor. (B) promotes counterproductive behavior as hospitals are overwhelmed. Biggest difference: A is true. B is not.

The media reporter for Axios, Sara Fischer, told me she's seeing an increase in new media startups targeting "elite" readers — highly-educated, can afford a subscription. Did I have any thoughts on this development? axios.com/media-startups… This is what I told her:

Today I introduced legislation, along with more than 50 of my colleagues, to produce N95 masks, one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of Covid-19, and distribute them to every American for free.

I could not agree more with Margaret Sullivan's take here, we've been doing this with Spotlight PA and we've got lots more ideas in the works. Also h/t to Votebeat for understanding this need, too.

It's worth noting that The Washington Post offers a super bargain price for subscription now: $ 9.99 for the first year! Still, how many subscriptions can you afford? Important news, that the public needs to know, shouldn't be behind a paywall. ☹

Beware the Jabbertrump, my son! The lies that bite, the cons that catch. Beware the Elon bird, and shun all rightwing balderdash. (With poetic license, apologies to Lewis Carroll)
