GPD Command Staff proudly supported our officers as they completed the Police Unity Tour at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, which is dedicated to honoring the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We stand united in remembrance, pride, and gratitude.

On Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor all the LEOs who lost their lives in the line of duty. We remember their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. We hold a special place in our hearts for one of our own—Corporal Christine Peters, Badge #108.

Friday is National Poppy Day, dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of veterans and active-duty military. The red poppy has been a symbol of remembrance since World War I. We thank the American Legion Auxiliary - Greenbelt Unit #136 for visiting and sharing these Poppies with us.

We celebrated an exciting year of the D.A.R.E. program with the participating students. D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This program, taught by officers, aims to teach children to resist peer pressure and lead productive lives free from drugs and violence.

Meet Ofc Nick Powell, who joined GPD in 2023. He grew up in Bowie, MD, playing basketball & lacrosse—sports that instilled a strong spirit of commitment & service. He enjoys connecting with residents in our community and believes it's one of the most rewarding aspects of his job.
