80 years ago, at 9.44am on 28 July 1944, a V1 flying bomb hit Lewisham market. At least 51 people were killed, more than 200 injured. The centre of Lewisham was wrecked in an instant. Read about the bomb and the fire, rescue & medical response here: longlazylewisham.wordpress.com/2024/07/28/lew…

Thanks to The Greenwich Wire. I’m very proud to have the The King's Troop RHA based in our Borough & like many enjoy the spectacle of seeing them out & about. However, if things go wrong, residents should be treated properly and not ignored by their insurers for over a year.

At 1245 on 1 August 1944, the civil defence "incident" at Lewisham was declared closed, 99 hours after the V1 struck. More than 36,700 man-hours had been put in by the CD services. More than 50 people had died and around 300 were injured. Read more here: longlazylewisham.wordpress.com/2024/07/28/lew…

Good write-up on The Greenwich Wire of this week’s setback for the Council’s #Greenwich LTN plans👇 It’s time for the Council leadership to show some humility and admit they got this one wrong. Will they listen, or just plough on regardless?
