Was down through the #WesternDistrict on the weekend and honestly don't think I've seen it so dry - particularly areas south of the Princes Highway.

The Trump administration’s plan to challenge #China’s #maritime dominance and usher through a change in the #shipbuilding industry will likely be a decades-long effort, according to the chief of the Port of Los Angeles. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

So many #ausag apologists for trump -‘albo and Rudd should be nicer’ etc etc. let’s try standing up for our own interests

Interesting re Aussie #beef sector - to be fair there probably is a reasonable case to lift the biosecurity ban on Us products - but does that now look like capitulating further emboldening trump to further global trade stupidity

Peter FitzSimons The stages in a Donald Trump deal: 1. Lie about something being a problem 2. Do something to "fix" it, which causes an actual problem 3. Say you won't reverse what you've done 4. Reverse what you've done 5. Say "Art of the deal" Insiders are making a killing

All 7 mill victorians benefit from emergency services yet 20,000 farm business will face a 160% emergency services levy increase compared to 16% on residences. Most rural victorians are volunteers and receive no compensation yet they will fund 90% of the ESV. Inequity epitomised

Hearing a fair bit about poor quality fert around the traps this - sticky and setting hard - anyone had any experience like this? #agchatoz

In 2018, the UK banned the use of Neonicotinoids. UK rapeseed producers have struggled to adapt to new protection strategies. The result has been a dramatic drop in the area planted with rapeseed. This is a good example of the impact of changing policies related to chemical

Re #fireserviceslevy - rural victorians pay taxes that go to help support the public transport system - 95pc of which is in Melbourne and they use twice a year max. Surely all Victorians can shoulder this load rather than dumping a massive impost on a few?

Weakened trade winds near Indonesia have maintained very warm waters to the northwest of Australia. These waters are expected to warm further during winter, possibly triggering a negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) event in the next 2-3 months. weatherzone.com.au/news/possible-…

Seeing so much about country pubs closing - cost is consistently a factor - wouldn't it be good to see a shift in the way alcohol excise is collected so there's less on the pubs and more on take-home booze - less people getting wasted alone and more engaging with others.

Why are farmers screaming right now? It isn't just grain price. Fert/corn ratio some of the worst in history. Farmers spending huge amount on next inputs: Urea - 3rd worst UAN - 2nd worst DAP - worst Potash - only "middle ground" value today

Have driven across a fair portion of the state in the past week. I think 8.2 million tonnes would be an amazing result from here. Fingers firmly crossed 🌧️🌾 Stock Journal
