Do your pitchers do arm circles as part of their warm-up? Here's how to make them better. My buddy Kevin is a Javelin coach and olympic hopeful, and we've been discussing this drill from movement guru Ido Portal. More in the description.

Here's an easy way to quantify early hip rotation - counting video frames between the back heel beginning to lift and ball release. Elite throwers fall in the 8-10 frame range.

The game of baseball, and life, for that matter, doesn't owe you anything. You aren't entitled to success. Earn it. Chase it. Become it.

Eventually, the SHA on the glove-side reaches its end range of motion (which varies athlete to athlete) before the athlete cannot hold counter-rotation any longer. Its this action of the glove-side SHA initiating the torso rotation that’s referred to as “positive disconnection.”

This thread is a long way of saying this: the movement of the glove arm serves as a slingshot mechanism to propel the torso rotation in many high velocity pitchers. This cannot occur in a scenario where equal and opposite patterns are exhibited.

The day I placed the Zepp App on his bat was the moment I realized I taught my son the wrong way. From that moment, I went berserk to find the truth. Through our failures, I will ensure that all of my students regardless of age get on the right pattern for when it matters.

While digging deep into the Kyle Boddy YouTube channel, I found this little gem from 2012. People often think that you use heavy balls for arm strength (whatever that term means), and light balls for arm speed...might wanna #checktape on that one.

Progressions and Regressions (Thread): Knowing what movement you are trying to improve and how get each athlete there is paramount when programming for them. You can see this athlete has very little active control of hip IR on his trail leg during the 90/90 switch..

They say the best way to learn a foreign language is to immerse yourself in that culture. The same can be true of skill development, strength and conditioning, and sports medicine. (1/3)
