Neutrophils are the most plentiful white blood cell in the body, but the least studied. Wyss & Harvard SEAS researchers have now turned them into an anti-cancer therapy by attaching empty "backpacks" to them, which activated them against tumors in mice. #Cancer wyss.harvard.edu/news/empty-bac…

What good is an empty backpack? Turns out, they can treat cancer. Researchers at the Wyss and Harvard SEAS discovered that attaching empty polymer microparticles to neutrophils activates the immune cells against skin and breast cancer. nature.com/articles/s4155…

Wyss postdoc Vineeth 'Vinny' Chandran Suja, PhD has won the prestigious Viktor K. Lamer Award from the American Chemical Society for his research in colloidal and interfacial science! PhD with Gerry Fuller at Stanford University, and currently working with Core Faculty member Samir Mitragotri. Congrats, Vinny!

1st paper of my phd now out in the world! “Gel-dissection”: using injectable gels to laparoscopically maneuver internal organs - here, to protect healthy tissues during tumor ablations. Grateful esp. to get to design materials alongside clinicians! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ad…

Drug delivery systems can be designed to improve cell therapies! In their new Review, Samir Mitragotri et al discuss the engineering of drug delivery systems at various scales to improve the efficacy of therapeutic cells Samir Mitragotri Harvard SEAS Wyss Institute go.nature.com/4f7J1qr

Such a fun time celebrating the 25th anniversary of Samir Mitragotri's lab with current members, alumni, and friends. Thank you for all the amazing impact you've had on science and all of us 🙏. Looking forward to the next 25 years!

1/2. I am thrilled that I'll start my dream job at UCSD Bioengineering UC San Diego Bioengineering, UCSD Engineering + NIH Common Fund FIRST faculty. Grateful for Samir Mitragotri and the Chaudhuri lab's unwavering support. Hiring at all levels! #Viscoelasticity #Biomaterials #Mechanoimmunology #CellDynamics

Excited to share our new method in Science Magazine to advance the properties of DLP-printed materials. Incredible scientific breakthrough led by Chemical and Biological Engineering and the BioFrontiers 💻🦠🧬🧪🧫💉📊📓 Institute!

I am immensely grateful for the incredible research experience I recently completed at Harvard University as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar (The Fulbright Program Fulbright Association Comisión Fulbright ).

Check out @apdhand and Matthew Davidson's review article highlighting light-based strategies for 3D printing hydrogels, now out in Nature Reviews Bioengineering! Link: nature.com/articles/s4422… BioFrontiers 💻🦠🧬🧪🧫💉📊📓 Penn Bioengineering CU Boulder Engineering 🦬

#PharmSci360 started today in Salt Lake City, UT. Samir Mitragotri of Harvard University received the highest American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists recognition, the 2024 Distinguished Scientist Award. Congratulations Samir!

Countdown to an exciting lineup of presentations from Samir Mitragotri's lab 😎. #BMES2024 Biomedical Engineering Society #AIChEAnnual American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
