Yesterday the WHOLE TheBoonGroup journeyed to the NYAS End-of-Year Symposium on Deconvoluting Protein Networks! This year was a lot of fun! Jason Withorn was even selected to present an plenary talk! Shout out to Lia Parkin from JSeeliger Lab on winning a poster award!!!

WHOOP WHOOP 🚨 Submission alert! Danielle Rose submitted her paper and is currently on bioRxiv Microbiology while we wait for review! Be sure to check it out! Danielle has some cool data connecting NahK signaling to denitrification in Pseudomonas!

This summer we had a blast having Wes Silverman in the lab, Wes was part of the REU program at StonyBrookChem. He got to present his summer research last Friday at the REU symposium. Wes had a great time with Saigoutham Paturu exploring P. aeruginosa metabolism!

Last week we said goodbye to Natalie Osorio, a high school student who got a chance to work in the TheBoonGroup this summer thanks to the Simon’s Foundation. Natalie worked with Jason Withorn exploring the structure/function relationship of NosP in Pa!

Lactate is an important substrate🍔for P. aeruginosa in infection sites. We show that PA’s “redundant” lactate dehydrogenases are used by different biofilm subpopulations and contribute to survival within macrophages🦠Great work by Lindsey Florek& collabs.doi.org/10.1128/mbio.0…

Congratulations to our CAS colleagues Lauren Donovan, business manager for academic centers & institutes, and Surita Bhatia, associate dean for Faculty Affairs & IDEA, selected as finalists for the 2nd annual Stony Awards! Wishing them the best of luck! StonyBrookChem
