"Trace, why are you making such a big deal out of something everybody already agrees with?" because the people we trust to direct society on this topic at every level oppose it and I hope that maybe if I shout enough about that people will really internalize what that means

The #1 question I get about Alpha/GT is “what’s the homeschool version of this?” #2 is “how can I get one of these schools in $INTERNATIONAL_CITY?“ #3 is “given that this is all fake, how do you sleep at night?“

why don’t all private school publish academic results? do any have comparable results to this? 99th achievement percentile for EVERY subject and EVERY grade one exception: 5th graders got 93rd achievement percentile in math

GT School test results are too high to be precise, but they indicate what is easy to observe: that students are an average of something like 5 grade levels ahead. They do standard academics for 2 hours a day on apps. Rest of the day is nerd fun with phenomenal cohort.

Really good essay from Dan Willingham that is nominally about the science of reading but is actually about the wider issue of how to conceptualize education research.
