A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27: “It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young. At 26, I thought I had time… To fall in love. Start a family. Grow old. But cancer doesn’t care about plans.

To fall in love.
Start a family.
Grow old.

T cells do the heavy lifting when it comes to the anti-tumor action of checkpoint immunotherapy. But do antibodies play a role too? That’s the question @yile_dai looked to answer in his thesis work, out today in nature! 🧵below nature.com/articles/s4158…

NCI Interim Funding Policy: “With these considerations, we expect to fund through the 4th percentile for those established investigator applications.” “It is expected that funds will be available to reach the 10th percentile for those Early Stage Investigator applications.” 😢

Missing the good old days when the NCI payline was “only” 8th percentile. In prior NCI projections, the R01 payline goal this year was supposed to be 15. Sadly, we have gone the other way. 😢

🤯Three (!!!) new papers today in Science Magazine on the application of generative AI for the de novo design of peptide/HLA binding molecules! Completely unique 3D structure and binding mode compared with natural TCRs and TCR mimics! Links to papers 👇

Meet Erin Madden CAMELOT at OSU CCC CREATES scholar extraordinaire in the lab for the summer. GREAT presentation on her work supporting 3 separate projects in the lab by becoming a histotechnologist in a remarkably short time. What a rock star! The Ohio State University Marching Band

I cannot stress this enough: pairing a 4% funding line with the largest cut in NCI history will devastate the future of cancer research - and patients. We would be turning our backs on decades of progress.

Nicolas Hulscher, MPH This preprint provides absolutely no proof that the vaccines caused the cancer. It basically compares 10 (!) handpicked sick patients to 803 healthy patients. And behold, they show different RNA expression profiles. Because they were sick. No proof that was caused by vaccine.

31% of all deaths in 1900 in the US were kids younger than 5. Today it’s 0.7%. Kids don’t die prematurely now because of modern science and medicines. Y’all want to go back to that?

It has taken medical science 200 years to advance humans to the point where people are so healthy and living so long that they can deny that science and medicine is what got us here. - Doc Bastard
