My last tweet was over 12 years ago! I will now start tweeting more often about #sizespectrum dynamic size-based multi-species modelling of fish communities, in particular about new developments in the #mizer model (sizespectrum.org/mizer/)

We are being funded! Many thanks to SMMR and to our project partners. We at UoY Mathematics will develop the mathematical modelling to support the project's aim of sustainable #fisheries. We'll be hiring -- more next week. york.ac.uk/news-and-event…

mizer (sizespectrum.org/mizer) now has its own twitter account, posting updates and tips for using the mizer package. Given that new functionality is added all the time, this should be a useful account to follow if you are using mizer.

It is amazing how easy it has become to share code. With the help of mybinder.org others can work with your code in their browser without having to install anything. blog.mizer.sizespectrum.org/posts/2021-08-…

From next Monday I will run a 3-week online course on multi-species size-spectrum modelling of fished ecosystems using the R package mizer. We will build and explore a model for the Celtic sea from scratch and you could build a model for your own region: mizer.course.nov22.sizespectrum.org

Returning from PANDA meeting in Leeds on "Patterns in Complexity" (http://tinyurl.com/cznjhz). Most interesting talks by Budd and Jensen.

Have written and run my first real stochastic simulation using Gillespie algorithm with no less than 82500 reaction channels and 750 species

To speed up my stochastic simulation I need to learn how to best draw from a given distribution. Will read book http://tiny.cc/lznJb

Just realised that the Smoluchowski coagulation equation is a special case of our jump-growth equation (http://arxiv.org/abs/0812.4968)
