Plans to a build the world's first gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage were held up for 13 months by a legal challenge by the 'eco-zealot' that PM Starmer called out in a Daily Mail article. He's now lost. The Court didn't pull its punches on Dr Boswell.

⚡ "You look at Texas, for example... which has a nodal market. They are thriving in terms of building out renewables and solar... and they're also booming in batteries." @GuyNewey explains why Texas succeeds where Britain fails. 👇

This was fun. Unbelievably, my first time ever Institute of Economic Affairs HQ. Thanks to Andy Mayer for inviting me on and allowing me to make the case for market signals and zonal (or nodal really)…..

We're facing wholesale deindustrialisation in this country. Subsiding electricity prices should be the very last resort. Cutting them at source should be the first. Building more generating capacity and ending Britain's one-size-fits-all pricing system is how to do it.

Just 40mins earlier I checked to see if I needed to get the earlier train. All appeared fine so stuck with the 1647. Arrive at new street to this. Avanti West Coast It is the grinding, predictable relentlessness of the train delays/cancellations which is so dispiriting….

There is something wonderfully Avanti West Coast about trying to fill in a delay repay form relating to two earlier delayed trains while sitting on a train that is not moving, with no sign of it moving, only for the rubbish WiFi to drop out so I cannot fill out the form...

250 homes, one smart platform, and a whole lot of grid-flexing power ⚡ We’ve just wrapped the FRED project with Evergreen Smart Power, trialling domestic Demand Side Response (DSR) with real households.

Today's Avanti train back from Birmingham to London only 10 minutes late (which counts as on time, in our odd world). Although the air conditioning did not work in the carriage... #trainsauna

Today London to Birmingham on Avanti 16 minutes delayed - although still not arrived, so who knows? If I do a middle-aged man jog (lovely in the heat) I can just make the company-wide event I am hosting.... #avantiadventures

I hope Lucy Bronze, as she walked up to take her penalty, looked up at the ‘Abba > Beatles’ sign in the crowd and thought: ‘I’m not having that…’

1. Wind and solar both keep me up at night, but for opposite reasons. Solar works and is winning the global race, Britain simply sits too far north to benefit. Britain is betting on wind instead, yet wind lacks the very traits that makes solar work.

Antarctic sea ice is no longer fluctuating within the expected range - it’s dropped far below, reaching statistical extremes. As physical systems move into unfamiliar territory, so should our response strategies.
