Biological data cross borders as part of their sharing and usage cycles. In a blog I look at the mix of data import, export and self-use for one biodata type.

Without biodata resources, there is no advance in the life and biomedical sciences. In its 2033 selection, GlobalBiodata has announced a further 15 Global Core Biodata Resources, bringing the set up to 52, collectively serving a breadth of domains, data types & user communities.

The GCBRs provide an essential data foundation for the life sciences, both directly to users and as data providers to more specialised topic-focused resources. GCBR leaders work with GlobalBiodata to explore, and drive towards, greater sustainability for biodata resources.

It’s important that biodata resources provide data openly, but raises challenges when assessing impact. In a blog, I suggest opportunities: providers into the data value chain (e.g. of data resources, tools , standards, etc.) will benefit from sharing impact stories.

V pleased to reach this point. Recognising the need to engage with scientists/infrastructure providers from all corners of the world, doors now open for broader membership. This will improve coverage/services, help sustain activities and build greater equity in sci data sharing.
