The int. Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is of special significance for 🇦🇹. The TPNW is not just a beacon of hope, but also a concrete contribution by the non-nuclear global majority. Together, this majority of states takes a clear stand against nuclear weapons.

The report's first chapter is on nuclear weapons. It highlights the importance of the #nuclearban, which "leads the way to the only solution for preserving humanity from the threat of nuclear weapons: eliminating them. If nuclear weapons continue to exist, humanity won’t."

The number of ballistic missile launches has dramatically increased in recent years, equally increasing the relevance of the Hague Code of Conduct, which includes transparency measures like pre-notifying (test) missile or space launches to avoid misinterpretation.

145 states (hcoc.at/subscribing-st…) from all regions have subscribed to the Code, incl. states with large capabilities. With the Foundation for Strategic Research and EU support, 🇦🇹 hosted a luncheon to discuss the Code's role in the current environment.
