Zero carbon electricity generation by 2050 is ridiculously unimaginative. With equatorial sunlight, coastal wind and preexisting hydro infrastructure, this should be doable in under a decade. Countries with none of these advantages have more aggressive timelines.

If the recent Sri Lankan experience is any indication, a 3rd party in the mix is, on balance, a good thing for traditionally two-party democracies. Good for the UK. Sad that it can never happen in the US.
