1/2 Excited to release a new study on what determines the outcome of ambush predation. We collected high speed video of dragonfly larvae with their somewhat terrifying labial mask, hunting larval zebrafish. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

So happy to share our new work on modeling naturalistic larval zebrafish behavior! See our approach, data, and models in the videos in this thread. We capture multiple timescales of structure in our behavioral simulations, from prey responses to hunger-related behavioral changes.

We have postdoc openings. Experimental & computational neuroscience, whole-brain imaging & analysis of distributed computations for behavior. Neuronal & astrocyte networks underlying brain states. Get in touch if interested & spread the word! ahrenslab.org HHMI | Janelia

Somehow this question is on our minds more than ever these days : knowledge vs understanding... Amazing lecture by Gilles Laurent at the MBL

1) We just uploaded the results from our latest foray into social interactions in larval zebrafish to BioRxiv. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… This is a story led by Roy Harpaz (Roy Harpaz) and Minh Nguyen Nguyet, with critical assists from Armin Bahl (Armin Bahl).

Excited to share the preprint of the work I did Florian Engert investigating the neural circuits underlying habituation of visually evoked escape behaviors in larval zebrafish biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I am so excited to share this preprint, the work I did with Michael Levin and a great team on discovering how nervous systems self-organize in completely novel motile bodies. It has been such a beautiful scientific journey and I can’t wait for the next steps!
