Navigating the Psych post-bacc job market 2-3 years ago was a big challenge for me, so I put together this brief meta-resource to help our RAs and other undergrads know where to look for available research positions docs.google.com/document/d/1IF…

This paper makes me happy as it includes a current PhD student (Jenna Weingarten), a former PhD student, and Melanie Dirks! It also shows that how adolescents think about hypothetical friendship break-ups predicts their real-life friendship experiences: doi.org/10.3389/fdpys.…

🚨New paper led by the fabulous Meghan Costello in JSPR, also @josoperrel.bsky.social, on the importance of vulnerability & self-disclosure in teens' close friendships. Adolescents with more self-disclosing friends showed ⬆️ vulnerability w/ romantic partners in adulthood. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/02…

These are such sad and resonant graphs. People want to *hear from* old friends, but are reluctant to *reach out,* because they don't think others are interested in reconnecting. We don't realize others miss us as much as we miss them, so we keep missing each other.

So, Dr. Hannah Schacter and I ran a study to see what we could learn! We conducted the study with teens because their self-esteem normally declines during adolescence. We wanted to see if affirmations could prevent these declines.

I'm looking for opportunities for invited talks, especially in the spring semester. I just finished Wave 1 of an identity project with LGBTQ youth and wanna share some preliminary results. Worked with organizations to do community-engaged research, which I'd love to talk about!

How and when kids are bullied matters. In her research, Wayne State Psychology's Dr. Hannah Schacter found that ninth graders who experienced forms of peer victimization had more depressive symptoms and lower future expectations each year. More in The Conversation U.S.. go.wayne.edu/05d6ec6
