If you use race/ethnicity codes in Medicare data check out this new paper led by Health Services, Policy & Practice Department PhD student Andrew Huang. NPs/PAs are not new clinicians by any means, but up until this work, we really didn't have a strong grasp of the relative volume of care provided by them. New paper in The BMJ from @sadiqyp et al. indicates that 1 in 4 visits are delivered by non-physicians. Read on:
