A fantastic line of inquiry and fun to read the responses. While I’m a supporter of Moon and Mars exploration, I also think it’s important for planetary scientists and space explorers to be aware of the alternatives. This can only help strengthen their “why”.

Wow, diffusion models (used in AI image generation) are also game engines - a type of world simulation. By predicting the next frame of the classic shooter DOOM, you get a playable game at 20 fps without any underlying real game engine. This video is from the diffusion model.

Pew, pew, pew! Do you see those five white circles on the rock? They’re laser blasts! Last month, I zapped what might be another pure sulfur rock with my ChemCam instrument. It’ll analyze the elemental composition and could give us more clues into how the pure sulfur formed.
