Netanyahu cements claim as worst leader in Israeli history, causing tens of thousands of needless deaths+destruction of much of Gaza, deepening Israel's isolation, alienating American Dems+young voters, among others--w/very little to show for any of this. nytimes.com/2025/07/11/mag…

David was my friend for decades. His voice was an important one, built on a remarkable career from aide to Ronald Reagan to aide to Bill Clinton and beyond, a man of insight and integrity, a model of civility and perspicacity. Sending hugs to Ann. May his memory be a blessing.

For Father’s Day, my family bought me some physics books. The material is often hard. The writing style is admirably simple. Unlike in social science and the humanities, there are no brownie points for esoteric prose. Everyone knows it’s hard. The props go to simple explanation.

Harold Pollack It reminds me of a thing Yoav Shoham asked me on PhD visit day. He said, we don’t have much time, but I’m trying to understand who you are. So tell me a paper you wish you would have written. It’s a great question to ask even in other fields, what’s a thing you wish you did.

Mediocre pics from Starved Rock this morning, but did spot some bald eagles. I wish I had a more powerful lens for birds still in trees. Should have brought my Nikon superzoom camera.

Let's talk about mass clemency for January 6 violent and murderous insurrectionists, pardoned by autopen. You are part of a real scandal. Delete your account.

This thread by CĆ©lineĀ Gounder,Ā MD, ScM, FIDSA šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦ is well worth your time There is a lot of nonsense spread about dyes, seed oils, and what a healthy diet looks like For many things, we actually have evidence! The real culprit in ultra processed foods is high amounts of sugar, salt and fat
