NEW: 108 Labour MPs have now backed the amendment opposing the government’s welfare bill - including 10 select committee chairs, as revealed by Romilly Weeks. More than enough to kill the bill when it’s debated next week.

Number 10 is putting pressure on Labour MPs who’ve signed this amendment - threatening them with deselection and claiming MPs are withdrawing their names. But as Romilly Weeks reports - numbers have swelled to 119.

Almost a third of Labour MPs - 124 of them - have signed an amendment opposing the governments welfare reforms, according to rebel leaders.

Meg Hillier and other select committee chairs had planned to pull the reasoned amendment signed by 120+ Labour MPs. But it's not yet been withdrawn. Senior Labour MPs are "in talks" about whether it will be. Welfare bill could still be in serious trouble.
