Received my Student Loans Company Repayment statement last month. I've been working flat out, full-time with locums, since July 2019 and I've still somehow accrued nearly £4000 net debt from extortionately high interest rates...how much do they expect me to be earning? I'm shocked.

For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).

Currently marking medical students' reflective essays. So far, all of them have talked about how they've seen doctors burnt-out on their placements. The fact this is being detected by our next generation of clinicians reflects the sheer scale of the problem. It needs fixing!
