I am not even going into the deontological aspect of universal adult franchise but just consequentialist one for now- without a democracy, India won’t be united. We won’t be one, and our problems would have been much worse. So forget philosophy, dogma, virtue - just be practical.

Many will of course try and we must be vigilant. We may even lose a battle or two but stopping India story is easier said than done. The core understands what is at stake. Caste and linguistic divides can only go so far, and what brings us together is getting stronger every day.
