A fun few days with Alexandra Dariescu, Tomo Keller and ASMF Orchestra. Highlights were performing and recording Nadia Boulanger's Three Pieces for cello and piano, performing Clara Schumann's piano concerto with that gorgeous second movement for cello and piano.

Cello technical exams tomorrow Royal College of Music. Just a little play around with Piatti 7 this evening before sitting on the panel tomorrow. Good luck all!

Ahead of tomorrow's live-score premiere of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Royal Albert Hall w/ Anthony Gabriele Cheng Yu ASMF Orchestra, here's a throwback to 2024 playing T's Crouching Tiger Concerto Suite NCPAChina Beijing & Shanghai w/ Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Petrenko.

Honoured to be soloist tomorrow in Bratislava w/ the Slovak Chamber Orchestra & Peter Breiner marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day. I shall play Bloch's Three Pieces from Jewish Life, Breiner's Lurking of a Purple Demon & Bat Chaim's Dance & Prayer. Here is some of Bloch's Prayer.

This was filmed during yesterday's rehearsal with the Slovak Chamber Orchestra, conducted Peter Breiner, before our concert performance in Bratislava commemorating VE Day. The piece you hear is the third movement of Peter Breiner's 'Lurking of a Purple Demon' for cello and strings.

And another exciting project earlier on Friday morning with the amazing Greta Mutlu and Richard Harwood details to be revealed soon….🎨 #synaesthesia #soundcolour

Pleased to announce I've recently been appointed Assistant Head of Strings Royal College of Music. This fractional position focuses on lower strings, chamber music & an ambassadorial role off campus. I don't envisage this to alter the frequency of my solo, chamber or studio work in any way.

A lovely week w/ I Musicanti & pianist Clelia Iruzun for SOMM RECORDINGS w/ Sive Oke & Adaq Khan, the album features works for the Trout instrumentation by Brazilian composers. Here's a rehearsal clip of the Prelúdio of the Cinco Miniaturas Brasileiras by Edmundo Villani Côrtes.

I enjoyed giving a talk (& my first PP presentation) this evening Royal College of Music about Joan Dickson's life & legacy. A lucky surprise that Steve Doane, over from the US, came w/ his family. I began studies w/ Steve immediately after Joan's death. Many thanks to Dr. Ingrid Pearson!

My Rugeri started buzzing like a bee late Friday and with a concert last night Howdenshire Music in Yorkshire, the very kind people at Florian Leonhard leapt in to action early yesterday morning and gave me another wonderful cello to play on. 🙏 Any guesses as to what it is?

Working on Brahms B flat Sextet today ahead of ASMF Orchestra chamber ensemble performances at Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival very soon!

ASMF chamber ensemble concert no.2, tonight in Rellingen at the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival. Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn. ASMF Orchestra
