International friends, we have had some national coverage on #MECVS and #GET #CBT. In a written response to the publication, the Dutch Paediatric Society (NVK) said that the NICE committee ‘uncritically adopted one-sided patient perspectives.’ Quite a wild thing to say 😅

Taelin standard medical assessments have a low ceiling if you're merely «strong» at math, it's the equivalent of «better than 20/20 vision» for a medical professional, stop wasting time with your whining, we have 10 patients with glaucoma waiting likewise for most other functions

In our #rapamycin pilot, we developed 2 biomarkers to measure autophagy function & showed that they correlate to positive response in #MECFS. Our bold goal is to generate a biomarker test to predict likely responders to rapamycin. We’re on our way to a 1st for #ME: test-to-treat!

A new study from New Zealand found that over one-third of university students experienced measurable cognitive deficits—especially in executive function—up to 17 months after COVID-19 infection. Even in a young, healthy population, the impacts on brain function were objectively

1/ Be one of the first Long Covid patients to participate in a Rapamycin clinical trial! A pilot clinical trial at CoRE at Mount Sinai will determine if low-dose rapamycin can improve symptoms in patients with long COVID.

So there was a lot of talk recently about a paper discussing COVID-19 micro-clotting. I thought I’d break it down in simple language. The paper looked at why tiny blood vessels get blocked in severe COVID-19. They discovered, it is not the usual clots we hear about. 🧵👇🏻

PSA: there IS a vaccine for my meningitis It is called Shingrix. If you ever had chickenpox, it can decrease by 90% your odds of waking up with a brain virus. Sadly, seems like it is only recommended for >50yo, but younger adults could benefit. Talk to your dr.

“non-invasive near-infrared regional spectroscopy was used to measure local oxygenation while kneading a stress ball and during recovery…the subgroup with PEM showed impaired deoxygenation…these data support the hypothesis of ischemia as a pathogenetic factor in PEM”

Prenatal SARS-COV-2 infection in pregnant women is linked to developmental delays in toddlers: "At 6 months, 33.3% of infants exhibited cognitive delays, 20% communication delays, and 40% motor delays, increasing to 35.71%, 64.29%, and 57.14% at 24 months, respectively."

It's always instructive to remind ourselves: we might all be saying "PEM" and meaning quite different things. Heck, it's already obvious we do that with the severity scale. And this is even more subtle a concept.
