Boosting the supply of social rented homes has always been a priority for Angela Rayner and me. We are today announcing that 60% of our 10-year £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme will be for Social Rent.

I’m sickened by the abhorrent racist attack on the Untold Stories exhibition in Windrush Square This is deeply distressing for the Windrush pioneers featured in the exhibition & for our whole community I am following up with the police. Please call 101 with any information

The attack on the exhibition on #WindrushSquare is devastating I met with some of the victims of this crime today to discuss their serious concerns about the police investigation Please stand with our Windrush pioneers & donate to restore the exhibition gofund.me/31ee1c84

No-one going through the heartbreak of pregnancy loss should have to go back to work before they’re ready. I’m proud this Labour government is introducing a day-one right to protected time off work, with time away from work to grieve. bbc.com/news/articles/…

I was 7 months pregnant & at work on 7/7 Colleagues were late & uncontactable, stuck on trains behind those that were bombed. I remember the anxiety we felt as we waited for news Remembering today the 52 who were killed, the injured, emergency workers & all who were traumatised

There has been a serious fire near Brixton tube station this morning My thanks to London Fire Brigade at the scene. I’m relieved to hear that there are no reports of injuries & I hope businesses are all OK The Victoria Line remains part-suspended, please avoid the area if you can

Lots of sensible and workable recommendations in today’s Education Committee report. The committee is right to call for reform alongside the recent significant investment boost to early help and the children’s social care system. committees.parliament.uk/publications/4…

In 2024, the number of looked-after children in England hit 83,630 — up 20% since 2014 Too many families aren’t getting the support they need. The recommendations in our report call for a national care offer & better support for care leavers Read ⬇ committees.parliament.uk/committee/203/…

“When I had gone to the jobcentres…. They did not know any support for care leavers” (Louise, care leaver) Great to see Education Committee recommend the introduction of national offer for care leavers. This would really help to improve the consistency support available.

Delighted to see Jess Asato MP & Helen Hayes 💙🌹 backing a national offer for care leavers. Barnardo’s care leavers told the Education Select Committee there’s a need for consistent support across England. Read more: barnardos.org.uk/barnardos-parl…

Thanks so much to Helen Hayes 💙🌹 for highlighting our #ReadingRights campaign with Waterstones Children's Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce in the House of Commons yesterday. We agree it's vital to support more children to develop a love of reading, bringing them lifechanging benefits.
