Boosting the supply of social rented homes has always been a priority for Angela Rayner and me. We are today announcing that 60% of our 10-year £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme will be for Social Rent.

There has been a serious fire near Brixton tube station this morning My thanks to London Fire Brigade at the scene. I’m relieved to hear that there are no reports of injuries & I hope businesses are all OK The Victoria Line remains part-suspended, please avoid the area if you can

The major water leak on East Dulwich Grove is causing havoc for residents & disrupting the education of pupils at Charter North Dulwich School The poor communication from Thames Water 💧 since Thursday is totally unacceptable When will repairs be complete & water supply restored?

A joy to collate The Revd Caroline Bailey to the parish of All Saints West Dulwich - a prayerful liturgy filled with anticipation for a next stage of the life of this wonderful parish - honoured by the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Lambeth and MP Helen Hayes 💙🌹

Today Education Committee publishes our report on Children’s Social Care Current outcomes for care leavers are unacceptable & that has to change Our recommendations seek to improve the care children receive & we call for a National Offer for care leavers: committees.parliament.uk/publications/4…

In 2024, the number of looked-after children in England hit 83,630 — up 20% since 2014 Too many families aren’t getting the support they need. The recommendations in our report call for a national care offer & better support for care leavers Read ⬇ committees.parliament.uk/committee/203/…

“When I had gone to the jobcentres…. They did not know any support for care leavers” (Louise, care leaver) Great to see Education Committee recommend the introduction of national offer for care leavers. This would really help to improve the consistency support available.

Delighted to see Jess Asato MP & Helen Hayes 💙🌹 backing a national offer for care leavers. Barnardo’s care leavers told the Education Select Committee there’s a need for consistent support across England. Read more: barnardos.org.uk/barnardos-parl…

Thanks so much to Helen Hayes 💙🌹 for highlighting our #ReadingRights campaign with Waterstones Children's Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce in the House of Commons yesterday. We agree it's vital to support more children to develop a love of reading, bringing them lifechanging benefits.
