{1/6}🆕📊🎉 Super excited to share my new #Misophonia research (with Tricia Stefancin, @leberandy, and Zeynep Saygin | zeynepsaygin.bsky.social), out today in Frontiers - Neuroscience for their special misophonia #ResearchTopic! frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

Is language distinct from thought/other cognition in early development? New Saygin Cognitive Neuroscience Lab preprint w/ @Hiersche_kelly & Elana Schettini! tinyurl.com/2p93vutd. By age 2, the language network is specialized for linguistic content & not engaged in other higher-order cognition.

We scanned 2-9 year olds x-sectionally & longitudinally on auditory language task and on spatial working memory task (modified from Ev (like in 'evidence', not Eve) Fedorenko 🇺🇦). Even young kids show robust & left-lateralized selectivity to spoken language (vs. 2 control conditions) in frontal & temporal fROIs

New paper (w/Elana & Kelly Hiersche) in J. Neurosci @SFNJournals tinyurl.com/5xpu3jzw! Kids show prolonged dev of executive function(EF). Do they recruit the same EF regions as adults (multiple demand/MD network)? Does activation reflect age or indiv. variability?
