Royal Castle Burger was founded #OTD in 1938 in Miami. Starting as a small stand, it grew to 200+ locations by the 1960s! By 1976, only 8 locations remained, with one left today at 2700 NW 79th St. The iconic buildings are still visible across South Florida. Have you seen one?

OTD in 1980, the Mariel Boatlift, one of the largest mass migrations in Cuban-American history, began. Following unrest at the Peruvian embassy in Havana, Castro opened the port of Mariel. Over 125,000 Cubans fled to the U.S., reshaping Miami’s culture and identity forever.
