Neh4v1-6. When the enemies saw that Nehemiah was actually building the wall they were ‘angry’ and ‘jeered’ calling what he was doing ‘rubbish.’ A common reaction when the church preaches God’s Word & begins to grow. Nehemiah prayed & kept building - the best answer to ridicule.

Neh9. A repeating theme in this great prayer is Israel’s sin and yet how God is always ready to forgive when they repent. He is gracious, merciful, slow to anger & abounding in steadfast love. This is the consistent biblical revelation of the heart of the God who made us.

Strong believers realise how weak they are! Remember when we first came to Jesus, we were weak & helpless. Do we need him less now? Colossians 2 “So then, just as you have received Christ, continue to walk in him.” We pray more meaningfully as we grasp our need of God’s help.

We’re shaped by fears, anxieties, disappointments, delays in answers to prayer & circumstances getting worse. Faith is being sure he always works things out for our ultimate good. It's trusting God & not just trusting God for a particular outcome.

Psalm61 “From the ends of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge..Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings.” A beautiful personal prayer for help.

God graciously gives us *himself*. God is the blessing of the gospel.

Psalm63 David is going through a tough time. His focus is seeking God. “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you.” In the midst of trouble he is determined to praise God. “Because your love is better than life, my lips will praise you.” Great attitude.
