Another great Skype A Scientist session yesterday, talking about Toolik Field Station w/ a high school AP Bio class in Tokyo. The students had such engaging questions, asking about Indigenous knowledge, ethical considerations in ecology, and where Arctic science is heading in the next decade.

This past week has been full of inspiring conversations between polar scientists and K-12 educators. Get ready Toolik Field Station — students and teachers are itching to visit!

Here's a newly discovered plant phenomenon that just unravels into utter bizarro world. Cryocampsis allows plants to bend more when frozen and lift a weight when warmed. Serendipitously discovered on the back porch of an Arctic lab Toolik Field Station! uaf.edu/news/frigid-bu…

At the Navigating the New Arctic Community Office NNA Annual Community Meeting this week. So great to be among this community of people committed to tackling the challenges of a rapidly changing Arctic. Looking forward to the talks and conversations to come! #ArcticTogether22

As someone raised in Chicago, I loved hearing Shermann Dilla Thomas give the AGU (American Geophysical Union) plenary session on the importance of science in the history of Chicago and that it’s ok to have a lot of pride for your city/organization/whatever but still call out the inequities it upholds. #AGU22

One of my fav parts about working Toolik Field Station is coordinating the early career TUNDRA award. As a modest donation-based award it could use a little more love to fully blossom. Want to help? My yearly ask to donate to Toolik Field Station's student & early career TUNDRA award. Coordinating it is one of my favorite parts of my job. Awardees' work is inspiring, innovative, & often critical to addressing global change. Give at givingday.alaska.edu/amb/toolik The University of Alaska Foundation #49HoursForAlaska
