In this video🎥, we take you inside the underground station box, where engineers are laying the first of six 400m platforms that will serve high-speed trains when HS2 opens. Built in a unique ‘island’ layout, these platforms are the first to be revealed anywhere on the HS2 route.

Our new timelapse footage shows engineers carefully sliding a 1,300-tonne viaduct deck into position near the village of Thorpe Mandeville in West Northants. The deck of the Lower Thorpe viaduct, which stretches for 220m, was assembled to one side before being slid into position
