Spectacular talk by Ben Winer postdoc from our friendly neighbor The Morgan Huse Laboratory at the 2023 Phagocyte GRC! Please stay on the look out for his work đź‘€

And as an encore from The Morgan Huse Laboratory we get to see even more of their awesome science at the #Phagocyte #GRC poster session! Ben Winer again featured along with graduate student Alex Settle.

Hi everyone, I’m excited to share a pre-print of my postdoc work 🍾biorxiv.org/content/10.110… We found a protein (Gb4) that allows immune cells to move after ”eating”. Normal innate immune cells (red) stop moving to prevent pathogen spreading, but cells lacking Gb4 keep migrating.

My 7-yr #PhD The Morgan Huse Laboratory GSK Graduate School summarized in 10 s: the #Tcell #immunesynapse squishes & micropatterns target cells! A close look at the surface patterns shows how "Rippling" and "Killing" are associated - so yes, T cells mastered Hamon right out of #JoJosBizzareAdventure.

Exciting new research from our lab, led by PhD student Alex Settle, is up now on BioRxiv! Using deformable hydrogel particles, we explored how macrophages respond to the rigidity of their targets during phagocytosis! Check it out now. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Researchers show that cytotoxic #Tcells actively compress and pattern their targets within the #immune synapse to maximize their cell-killing potential. The Morgan Huse Laboratory Learn more in Science #Immunology: scim.ag/7v9

What happens when a #cytotoxic #Tcell, a cartographer, and David Attenborough walk into a bar? I'm not too sure, but our story in Science Immunology might tickle your fancy. #immunology #synapse #biomechanics

Really appreciate this highlight in nature of my #PhD story Science Immunology! The immune system is full of drama! The Morgan Huse Laboratory nature.com/articles/d4158…

Congratulations to the Huse lab’s newest Ph.D., Alex Settle! Alex’s paper on integrin mechanosensing during macrophage phagocytosis was just published in Nature Communications! nature.com/articles/s4146…
