In July, the UK Competition and Markets Authority published its report into music streaming. Lots of valuable information but Hyojung Sun and I critique its limitations here, esp its treatment of the profitability and market power of major record companies assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6329a508…

Feel privileged to have had a chance to contribute to this important debate with David Hesmondhalgh Nile Rodgers and Merck Mercuriadis at the DCMS theguardian.com/music/2023/dec…
Surreal for me and my co-author Hyojung Sun to be alongside Nile Rodgers and Merck Mercuriadis, giving evidence to the UK Parliament Culture, Media and Sport Committee, on "creator remuneration" in music.
The last @CMSCommittee scrutiny session was graced by music royalty as we were joined by Nile Rodgers to discuss artist renumeration. The Committee was recently presented with the Industry Champion Award in the The FAC Artist and Manager Awards! ©️HoC/Jessica Taylor
