Pre-processing #lidar data is dull, and flying our #UAVs✈️ low over tall forests to get it is heart stopping, but worth it! Transects through two of our 1ha plots in #Peru 🇵🇪. I estimate 8 of these🌲have since been felled to help us develop new ways to detect #degradation 🛰️

None of the Tory leaflets I've had through the door cite a single policy other than "stop indyref 2". They talk about Nicola Sturgeon more than their own candidate, and name their own party only once, in five-point text, hoping you don't notice. It's almost like they're ashamed.

Pretty incredible the damage a single, relatively small tree causes when it is cut down. This was just 1 of 19 that we felled in Gabon this year. On the plus side, guaranteed a good sun-tan during the re-inventory.

Looking down Loch Duich after a (long) overdue traverse of the South Glen Shiel Ridge. No midgies. No rain. Likely got a decent sun tan. Cant think of many better days or locations to break the lockdown monotony.

Its been 22 years since we last watched Scotland is a major tournament. Been a long wait. Still got the flag and the scarf. Top might not fit.

This is my first time doing this, but here goes. Luis is a Peruvian biologist who has been fighting leukemia for the past year and is in need of an expensive, uncovered treatment. His family and partner, Beisit, are raising money to cover the cost. gofund.me/59d2fd1c

Twenty-three years (23) since we last watched Scotland in a major tournament. Hopefully we dont wait as long for the next one

Tough conditions for the final checks of our School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh UAV-LiDAR and UCL TLS equipment before heading off to Lopè and Ivindo in #Gabon as part of ERC #FODEX and European Space Agency #ForestScan projects. Might need a swim after @ChavanaBryant Harry Carstairs 🌳 TLS TREES 🌳 Parcs Gabon

Having worked in (and alongside) this team for many years, I can safely say this is an amazing job working with great people!

Launching our Delair UAV over Lopé National Park in #Gabon as part of the ForestScan project. Foggy conditions for most of the week, with swirling winds adding a bit of 'excitement' to take off and landing, but this flight alone netted us 160 ha of #LiDAR data.
