This #Worldnatureconservationday (July 28), meet the Hyderabadi Environmentalist Divya Nawale who has been to all the 7 Continents! #Nature #ClimateAction #Environmentalist

Guest Divya Nawale, ClimateForce Ambassador for Antarctica asks: We know the Antarctic treaty protects the continent, waters and bio-diversity and is a strong example of solidarity from the world's superpowers. What would it take to replicate that to the rest of our oceans?

Sir David King: We should have a treaty that covers our oceans. Oceans are an open book in terms of regulatory procedure, we need to understand that and it has to be tackled.

Professor Mark Maslin 👋 𝕏 The oceans cover 70% of the surface of the earth, and international waters cover a huge area. Moving forward we need something like the Antarctic treaty to cover international waters. There's a lot of fishing, fossil fuel exploration and mining of sediments.

Professor Mark Maslin 👋 𝕏 We as individuals have to realise we are quite powerful - it's important to talk about climate anxiety and engage. We should also do the things that are positive for both our lives and the environment - e.g. moving to a plant-based diet.

Professor Mark Maslin 👋 𝕏 Those of us in democratic countries, we can vote for parties that care about the environment as well as protest and state our aims . You also have real power in your wallet to make more sustainable choices.
